If you have an individual insurance and wish to switch to a collective insurance at your current health insurer, you can do so from the first of the month following your request. Otherwise, you can switch from 1 January. You can switch midway to another health insurer if you have a collective insurance and due to a job change, you can make use of a collective insurance again.

If your family members can make use of your collective insurance depends on your collective. You can contact our customer service representatives for more information.

A termination of employment , according to the Health Insurance Act is not a reason to terminate health insurance midway. The policy (basic insurance and supplementary insurance) will continue on an individual basis. You are required to continue the basic insurance until at least 1 January, individually. The premium will be higher as you will lose the collective discount.

If your new employer is also a member of a collective , you can switch to that collective. The date you submitted your request is important:

Before the date of the new employment:

The date of deregistration is the 1st of the month following the date of new employment, unless the employment commences on the 1st. In this case the date is the same as the deregistration date of the new employment.

After the date of the new employment, but within a period of 30 days:

Unsubscribe from the 1st of the month following the requested date.

After a period of 30 days:

You're too late and can not unsubscribe until 1 January of the following year. Meanwhile, the collective policy will be converted to an individual policy . Examples:

  • Example 1: New employment date is 1 August. Cancellation request is 28 July. Cancellation date is 1 August.
  • Example 2: New employment date is 1 August. Cancellation date request is 5 August. Cancellation date is 1 September.
  • Example 3: New employment date is 1 August. Cancellation date request is 1 September. Possible cancellation date is 1 January.
  • Example 4: New employment date is 2 August. Cancellation request is 28 July. Cancellation date is then 1 September.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to combine different collective discounts.
